Marilyn Campbell-Lowe is an acclaimed playwright, actor, co-founder of Writers’ Theatre, Glencoe, Illinois, and a founding Core Member of Chicago’s New Classics Collective. Her many plays and adaptations have been seen across the globe. 2024 Commissions include: FIRE!, Written by Phillis, and Sentinels. Curt Columbus is an artistic director, translator and playwright working in Chicago theatre since 1986 before taking on the position of Artistic Director at Trinity Repertory Company, and has written both stage adaptations and original plays including Paris by Night, The Dreams of Antigone, and Sparrow Grass; he also speaks fluent Russian.
Marilyn Campbell-Lowe and Curt Columbus were commissioned to adapt Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment for the stage. Often spoken of as the greatest crime story ever written, Crime and Punishment is a tale of murder, motive, and the search for redemption plumbing the fundamental questions of existence. Their adaptation of Crime and Punishment has garnered a Chicago Joseph Jefferson Award, an LA Backstage Garland Award, a Best of Denver Award, and a nomination from the LA Drama Critics Circle. An ambitious achievement creating a thrilling detective story of the soul, the taut, thrilling adaptation compresses all the tension and pathos of the novel into a powerful 90 minutes of theatre that is at once fresh and faithful to the original.

Peter Papathanasiou is creator of the Detective Sergeant George Manolis series of crime books, which include The Stoning (2021), The Invisible (2022) and The Pit (2023); these books have been published in the UK by MacLehose Press, in Australia by Transit Lounge, and in Germany by Polar Verlag. These novels have notched strong sales, been nominated for international literary awards, and received overwhelmingly positive reviews in Australia, UK, New Zealand, Ireland, Germany and USA.
Peter has been working to adapt his memoir Little Ones and crime series to the screen with prominent Australian producers and directors. He lives and works in Canberra.
